December Just A Month, Right?

Anyone else feel like October came and went in one quick breath, now we’re just a couple a weeks away from Christmas?  My head is spinning.

December is just a standard month in the calendar year, right? Oh no, it’s not! December celebrations start in November and can extend to mid – January.  You know those neighbors where decorations stay out just a little longer, and if you know a redneck, December can extend to the summer or be a year-long event.

It’s the festival of eating in December that November provides the pre-game to.  I don’t know what it is, but I eat and drink all the wrong things, it’s like I’ve starved myself all year to this point (well I did that 30 day detox in October this year – so it’s possible).

I am hoping one year Santa will give me a pass on the calories consumed at the end of the year.  Yea, Santa – do you hear me? Nom Nom Nom.

As we get closer to the date, I turn back into a kid and get really excited – like silly excited.  So when my Mother said don’t grow up to quickly, I took her at her word.

This year, I took vacation to relax for the last 2 weeks of December.  For the last 4 years or so, I worked through the holiday.  Maybe this has contributed to my surprise how quickly this month approached.  My ‘to do’ list keeps growing, I’m starting to re-evaluate how ‘relaxing’ my vacation will be this year.

I have a couple of key books to read before year-end.  I planned to be further along in my first draft for my novel, so I need to kick it in gear.  I’m behind in shopping, planning and outdoor decorating – Bad Bad Mother…but looky my blog is all decked out!

Whew.  December it’s just another month right?
