I’m taking the opportunity to review a few books that I’ve read starting this year’s reading challenge. I have been doing the reading challenge in Goodreads now for few years this year my target is 50 books, I’m a bit behind but catching up. Anywho – if you don’t know what Goodreads is, check it out – I describe it as FaceBook for readers to an extent. Below each book is a link to my Goodreads review.
The Girl on The Train by Paula Hawkins – My rating 4 stars
This is a wild psychological train ride, to say the least. I actually recommended this book to my local book club a few months ago. Heard it was good and a movie adaptation is in the works and we thought as a book club it could be a fun outing. The main character be warned, Rachel is a drunken mess, but loveable. The author does a fantastic job at weaving several plots in a thrilling way.
First Born by Janelle Gabay – My rating 4 stars
YA debut novel and it’s a goodie! A future world where the last immortal is now being brought into the fold of the world that shaped by this mysterious group, including his deceased father. Trouble is, other agendas are at play and they want our hero Tarian dead. Who can we trust? It’s fun and a unique plot, worth your time.
Legend by Katy Evans – My rating 5 stars
This is the last book in a series, you don’t have to start at the beginning of the series, this one stands on its own very well. It’s a mixture of Creed (newest Rocky movie) and just about any favorite sport underdog movie you love. I devoured this book in 24 hours. Certainly reminded me why I loved the first book in this series entitled REAL. It’s steamy McSteamy, so if you don’t like that, not your book or series.
A couple other books I enjoyed over the last quarter included:
Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
Happy to link up on Goodreads, it’s a great option to make suggestions. Let me know if there is something I should add to my TBR (To Be Read) list.
