My 1st Novel – DONE!

I took a little hiatus this summer from my blog.  The main reason was to finish and polish my first novel and enjoy the summer with the family.  I’m happy to report, the novel ‘Magick’ is being published Sept 16, 2016, and is available for pre-order now.

Yahoo! MAGICK is here.

It’s been such an experience and an exciting time for me so far, although I tend to dread the marketing piece of being an indie author, none the less, I’m jumping on the train.  It’s also providing the momentum of writing the 2nd book – I ended up with a series on my hands!

I write under the pen name, Mira Monroe.  A story for another time as to why…  It’s a YA (Young Adult) fantasy novel for ages 14 and up.  If you enjoy a fun adventure check out it out.

Avg. 4-star reviews on Goodreads thus far in ARCs; as one reviewer said:

…I love a good ending and usually, I either remove or add one star to my final rating because of it. It was very tensed, full of action and magick and it all went really well. I was really excited at the end and this fact speaks for itself… – Reviewer

Well worth checking out this new author Mira Monroe!! I was lucky to get an advanced readers copy, but it comes out soon. Magick sets up a delightful maze of alternative realms. It’s ingenious. And just when you are truly frustrated (but in a good way like on the edge of your seat) the story unfolds beautifully. I’d almost describe it as a psychological mind teaser with alternate planes and realms set in the current day and with an almost fairy tale style… – Author of First Born, Janelle Gabay

MAGICK

Willow and her best friends, Emily and Lucy, are making plans for a great senior year and daydreaming about life away from sleepy Chepstow, Massachusetts. Willow tries for a life under the radar, where her biggest adventure is dating Daniel – voted best all-around guy. Her life is perfect, until a long-lost grandmother reveals that not only does she come from a long line of Wiccans, but she’s also part of the royal family – and next in line for the crown! Not everyone is happy to discover this outsider is about to take the throne, and Willow’s life is in danger – along with those around her. Willow’s world is turning upside-down, as a new realm invades, complete with rogue Guardians and a handsome warrior who’s sworn to stand by her side. Rhydian knows everything she doesn’t, and Willow must learn to use her magick to uncover the dark secrets about her family’s past in order to save the Edayri realm and everyone she’s ever loved before it’s too late.

Lovely Blog Award – Indeed!

lovely-blogWhat a fantastic way to start the week, receiving this award! Thank you Vik at Manuscript Tunes.  I’m thrilled you enjoy my blog and thought of me for this award.

There are so many bloggers who inspire me and provide community so freely that it makes it special and worth wild.

Directions are simple: Thank the nominator, paste the image, state 7 random facts about yourself, and tag other ~15 {more or less} bloggers. I’ve got 13 to share below, because it’s my hubby’s favorite number, so why not.

7 Random Facts About Me:

1.  I am a fantastic cook, I’m totally gonna boost here.  I don’t really follow a recipe most days, just go with ideas of what will taste good together and I come up with some fantastic meals with very little.  In fact, I’m the grill master in my home.  I’ve had the occasional foul up, but I’m more critical on my cooking than anyone else.  Cooking is love 🙂

2. My birthday is this month and my gift to myself was a 30 day detox to reset my biology.  A hug to my growing older anatomy to say “Yeah, I still got it!”.  I’m heading into week 2 and really doing well so far with no caffeine, gluten, sugar, red meat, alcohol, dairy and toxins.  Whew! It’s gonna be fun.  I dragged my bestie in with me – hopefully she’ll still love me after!

3. I love superhero’s and am a total geek about it too.  My all time favorite superhero is Superman, it’s hard to beat him, Kryptonite be damned!  I was that girl discussing what actors should be in X-men should they ever make it a movie, like 20 years ago – fyi…only Halle Barry made it via my predictions.

4.  I got married on Valentine’s Day over 18 years ago at the city court house.  I wanted to wear a red dress but my mother convinced me not too, because she said it screamed harlot.  My hubby and I are talking about renewing our vows at year 20 and I’m thinking I might wear red.  I mean we have 2 children I don’t think you can call me harlot now can you? Is it all safe? Ha!

5.  I love dance movies! Seriously – Step Up…2…3…4…5 if they make it I will watch it!  I think the first one had me at Channing Tatum, none the less I love them.  I used to love watching the TV show Fame when I was a teenager.  I took dance when I was younger and still shake my tail feather now and then.  Dancing is joy.

6.  I will always choose the book before a movie, but I will always go to see the movie based on a book.  I think of it as a visual guide to the book and try hard not to judge to harshly.  There are times where I can’t get to the book before the movie, and unless I’m really moved I won’t pick up the book.  My teenager is still reeling I didn’t read Hunger Games, but go to the movies with her.  The first book didn’t capture me and I never finished it.

7.  I am working on 2 stories now; #1 is a short story  I wrote from a prompt in Featured Fiction that I’m expanding entitled Haven’s DragonSwain; #2 is a novel about a teenage girl who is kindred to royal witches, set at a new private school in New Orleans.  She doesn’t believe in witches but her powers become unbound that is a siren’s call for those who want her unclaimed power.  It should be a fun NANOWriMo this year! Lots to do, as long as I can keep organized and manage it all.

Illusion by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Illusion (Chronicles of Nick #5) By Sherrilyn Kenyon

Rating 4.5 out of 5 stars

This is book 5 in the Young Adult series by Sherrilyn Kenyon focusing on a well loved (especially by me) character from artworks-000074210454-qmgxad-originalher adult series Nicholas “Nick” Ambrosius Gautier (pronounced Go-shay). Nick has always wanted to be normal kid and avoid his demon biological side that’s fated to end the world, and in this book he gets to see the flip side of what his normal world would look like. Of course normal isn’t always what it seems cue all other characters from the adult Dark-Hunters Series and twist them into polar opposites. This makes for a heck of an adventure and many laugh out loud moments from a typical sarcastic witty male teenager that is written to perfection. Great addition to the series so far!

If you haven’t read the previous books, I’m not sure how you could love this book, the way die-hard fans such as myself would. So many characters so many twists and turns and fun throughout the series. I really get tickled with this YA series and enjoy the paranormal series that author has weaved so perfectly that we get a second sight of seeing Nick grow up and possibly change plots in future DH books.

GoodReads Review

Rumor has it, movie and TV deals are in the making for this series… I pray they (movie and TV Gods) get this right, it’s too good to not pay it the right attention. None the less, I would highly recommend you enjoy the books prior to the visual entertainment, the mental entertainment is top-notch if you enjoy a good paranormal.

April Showers Bring Book Releases and Crutches

Wow, I’m on a reading frenzy lately.  What is it, the spring season for book releases?

200-1

I actually had to decide which favorite author/book series I would read first because they were released on the same day!! Seriously.  Any avid reader feels my pain and struggle.  Unless your the type who can read more than one book at a time (reference books don’t count by the way) and I am not that person.

as-if

I’m a one story at a time kinda gal, old fashioned I know.  It was quite diabolical, and a choice was made.

I really enjoy a good fiction story that takes me on an adventure in my own private movie showing.  Those stories are the best, especially as TV winds down all the season finales.  It’s also part research for me, because as a writer you should be a reader as well – or so says Stephen King and I agree.

My problem lately is that it seems to be a crutch not to write, cause I’d rather read.  I suppose it’s a fine line.
