Allegiant by Veronica Roth

Allegiant (Divergent Series Book #3) By Veronica Roth

Rating: 3 stars out of 5 stars

Allegiant is the final book in the Divergent YA series written by Veronica Roth. I was so thrilled with the first book in thisAllegiant_DemiJacket_WetProofTest.indd series, in fact it received a 5 star rating from me.  So you can imagine my excitement going into this last book.

However this quote from this last book sums it up well,

“I suppose a fire that burns that bright is not meant to last.” ― Veronica Roth, Allegiant

My Allegiant Goodreads Review

I was ‘meh’ with the book and the story line direction.  Such a promising series and it was still good mine you, as I continued to read it to the end.  I was left unsatisfied with the tragic twists and turn aspect of the plot.  The author does stay true to the main character Tris Prior, but in the end I felt jilted that this was it, kinda like:

Book Quotes I Enjoyed:

“I wonder if fears ever really go away, or if they just lose their power over us.” ― Veronica Roth, Allegiant

“There is a difference between admitting and confessing. Admitting involves softening, making excuses for things that cannot be excused; confessing just names the crimes at its full severity.” ― Veronica Roth, Allegiant

Book Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Yes, this is a dystopian book, but I can’t compare to the Hunger Games because I didn’t read the Hunger Games  *Gasps *Hissing.  I know.  I know.  I tried but couldn’t get into that story.  This story tho – GREAT!  I read this 501 page book in a 24 hour period and couldn’t put it down.  I’m usually not one to pick up a dystopian style story, so the fact I got taken with this one is making me reconsider – or that the author, Veronica Roth, weaved a great tale despite it.Divergent

I really enjoyed the political themes of the book as well as who a person chooses to be versus how others expect them to be per the cultivation of a particular virtue.  Great story arch and conflicts abound to keep the story moving forward at a good pace.  I really enjoyed the characters and the journey of growth.  To learn more, see some of my favorite quotes from the story and check out my book review below (click on the link).

My Book Review

Book Quotes:

“I feel like someone breathed new air into my lungs. I am not Abnegation. I am not Dauntless.  I am Divergent.”

“Becoming fearless isn’t the point. That’s impossible. It’s learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.”

“Politeness is deception in pretty packaging.”
