Poem (WQW) – Trust

I’m joining in this week on Writer’s Quote Wednesday on the topic of trust.  The challenge this week was to add to our quote about trust in a creative fashion.  My creative addition is in a poem to pair with a quote from the book Coraline by Neil Gaiman.  Trust is a fickle thing, especially if you don’t trust yourself or accept what you see.

Poem: Searching Trust
By Cassie Newell

Trust is a vision of temptation,
it blinds you to inner desire.

Feelings of comfort and security,
wrapped in the facade of faith.

Broken true by the view in the mirror.

A Magical Choice for 2016…

Happy New Year!  It’s the time where we are coming off of our holidays and setting goals (or in my case desires… see post from last year) for this year.  It’s that time period where everything has potential – – it’s the ‘can do’ moments.  Because YOU CAN, it’s the magic of choice.  I truly believe in choice, not all choices are easy but you have the ability to choose.  For me, I choose the magic…and witness it every day.  Try your hand at it this year.  As Roald Dahl would say, “Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” FIND IT. OR MAKE IT. Magic is all around, the true experience of joy is when you wield it.

Are you ready to join in?
All you have to do is find your favorite quote. Find something that truly speaks to you. This does not have to pertain just to writing. It can be any kind of quote as long as it made an impact on you. Then, write a post and include your quote.

There are no rules to follow. Either create your own sayings (because after all, we are all writer’s here) or use a quote from a famous author that you find gives you inspiration. Just make sure that credit is given for other’s work.

Writer’s Quote Wednesday – Christmas Quotes, Mark Twain

Be inspired by Mark Twain quotes and a letter he wrote to his 3 yr old daughter as Santa!

I love the humor and wit of Mark Twain.  He’s my perfect southern match in many ways.  Did you know that this past Monday was Mark Twain’s birthday?  There was a fun movement of Mark Twain quotes spreading throughout social media.  It’s hard to choose only one quote from this brilliant wordsmith of reality.  However, when faced with Christmas quotes by our favorite author for #WQW, I immediately looked up Mark Twain, but nary a quote on this topic.  Instead what I found, was a precious letter he wrote to his 3-year-old daughter as Santa.

In addition, let’s enjoy a couple of quotes by Twain to inspire our writing this week.

Writers Quote Wednesday – My HP Homage of Writing My Novel.

Just keep writing was the starter inspiration for this week.  It’s been a tough, really tough week for me.  The writing hasn’t been as smooth or consistent due to the day job and other issues.  However I love to write, it’s a departure and freedom like none other.  Therefore, here is my quote and a little Harry Potter homage of my writing my novel – Enjoy!

So you have this idea for a story, it’s brilliant shiney and new…

200

and you start your story and you feel on top of the world! Until…

the rubber meets the road.  It gets tough, there are out side doubters – your inner critic; you’ve got to push through.  This is a time commitment.  You’ve got to stand your ground.

200-6

Violence is not the answer, it’s that internal struggle, although I love Hermione’s right hook here!  You just gotta knock out the word count and plot through it all. (I hired a writing coach, I’m accountable now!)

giphy-3

You’ve got to focus on why your doing this.

giphy-6

Find that inner strength.

200-13

Get back to the story, that original idea, develop it further and carry it through.  It’s going to evolve and you will too in the process.

giphy-10

It’s a messy journey but keep going.  I’m in the messy part myself right now and the finish line is within reach.

giphy-13

The end has got to feel great right? Freedom.  That’s what I’m looking forward to…

giphy-11 giphy-8

…then the 1st edit

200-2

But, that’s for another day to dread.  At least I’ll have that 1st draft!
