Each April is set aside as National Poetry Month every year. What is the best way to enjoy National Poetry Month? Some of us go all out and read our favorites and discover new poets. Others, try our hands at writing and honing in on an art of various poetry styles.
Here are a few ways to enjoy poetry month stress-free.
Take a haiku walk outside. The haiku form of poetry that is nature inspired and is simple in its form. Be one with nature and breathe in the rhythm.
Dare to dream and relax. Poetry speaks to wants, desires and experiences. Find yours with a simple bubble bath or a rich dessert.
Visit a poetry house, and this doesn’t mean you have to go to a jam session. A library, cafe, bookstore, and a nook can all be your poetry house as you sit, read, and discover a new poet.
Poetry is like wine. Some poetry is succulent and beautiful where you pause and slowly consume it. Some poems serve its purpose directly, whereas others have you yearn for simple juice. The point is if you have an interest in poetry whether it’s to write it or read it, now is a perfect time to take on this interest.

I’m joining in this week on Writer’s Quote Wednesday on the topic of trust. The challenge this week was to add to our quote about trust in a creative fashion. My creative addition is in a poem to pair with a quote from the book Coraline by Neil Gaiman. Trust is a fickle thing, especially if you don’t trust yourself or accept what you see.
Poem: Searching Trust
By Cassie Newell
Trust is a vision of temptation,
it blinds you to inner desire.
Feelings of comfort and security,
wrapped in the facade of faith.
Broken true by the view in the mirror.
I hope you enjoyed my quote and original poem this week. If you did enjoy my poem and/or quote let me know by hitting the Like button below. Comments always welcome and Sharing is caring.

Check out my blog article for The Secret Lives of Writers Series. It’s about the multiple hats most people wear. How to marry up those different sides that may not fit by standard definitions. Defining who you are and not other stereotypes.
The Secret Lives of Writers is a series of blog posts from writers (published or unpublished) who dish the dirt on how they juggle life and art.
Happy New Year! It’s the time where we are coming off of our holidays and setting goals (or in my case desires… see post from last year) for this year. It’s that time period where everything has potential – – it’s the ‘can do’ moments. Because YOU CAN, it’s the magic of choice. I truly believe in choice, not all choices are easy but you have the ability to choose. For me, I choose the magic…and witness it every day. Try your hand at it this year. As Roald Dahl would say, “Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” FIND IT. OR MAKE IT. Magic is all around, the true experience of joy is when you wield it.

Are you ready to join in?
All you have to do is find your favorite quote. Find something that truly speaks to you. This does not have to pertain just to writing. It can be any kind of quote as long as it made an impact on you. Then, write a post and include your quote.
There are no rules to follow. Either create your own sayings (because after all, we are all writer’s here) or use a quote from a famous author that you find gives you inspiration. Just make sure that credit is given for other’s work.
